Question: You have been self-employed for a long time, will you be able to accept a permanent job?
Answer:
Its a matter of "is the glass half full or half empty." I believe I have been very stable in a long-time job. It just happened to be self-employment. The reason for me seeking change is three fold:
1. I have a young family and I need more stability than self-employment provides me.
2. There is a growing desire in me, to be part of Phase II. I get the project started - but never are there to watch it mature, adapt, and grow.
In other words - I never see the end result. With a permanent position, one witnesses the maturing process, and the results to the bottom line.
3. With age comes experience, knowledge, and wisdom. I have a strong desire to pass on my experiences of the last 20 years to a young company - in need of a mentor.
Question: Are you looking for a Permanent position or a Contractual position?
Answer:
Both, and no that does not mean I am not focused in my objectives. The S-corp Contractual employment has served me well over the last 15 years.
However, as I mentioned before, I have come to a point in my life, where I would like to make an impact on our society, or in other words, I would like to create a foot print. As a Consultant one moves from one enterprise to another. Building great teams and then leaving them. Establishing a project, but never participate in Round 2.
At this point in my career - I am looking for the right fit for a permanent executive position, while continuing my day-to-day work as a S-Corp Management Consultant - after all I still have a mortgage to pay.
Question: You mention the right fit - what is it that you are looking for?
Answer:
Ideally - I am looking for a medium sized growth oriented enterprise. An Enterprise that wishes to grow to the next level, appreciate strategic and visionary input, an Enterprise that has a need for a strategic IT partner to lead the enterprise to achieve its next level of objectives.
Finally, a "nice to have" aspect would be an Enterprise that is considering European expansion and values my educational, social, cultural, and economic experiences with the Netherlands.
Question: What makes for an exciting Project or Company
Answer: The People, the Vision, the Technology - and in that order :-)
Question: What positions are you looking for?
Answer:
My experiences are broad and varied - from Finance to IT, from Operations to International. At this point in time - I believe my greatest contribution can be made in the area of Information Technology. As such - the position title depends very much on the functional descriptions within the corporate entity. In general I am looking for a Sr. Management position - CIO, VP, Director level. However, I am also looking at the business side - as my Strategic Management and Finance experiences will do well with the growing enterprise.
Question: Would you consider a Start-up or Turn-around?
Answer: Absolutely. Whether a Company or Department, I am a truly hands-on kind of a person. The exciting part of a Start-up/Turn-around situation is one has to wear many hats. Its exciting and challenging!
Question: So I have this great contractual position available - are you interested?
Answer: Absolutely! Like you - I have a mortgage to pay :-)
